Thursday Recap: Belmont wins on final Seconds; FootballU Top Games of Week 5

Thursday Recap:

Belmont wins on final drive, stops Thurgood

The Belmont Bison knew their chances were running out on the season;
How would they salvage a season once thought to be a playoff bound?
Well for 47 minutes it looked as if Thurgood Marshall would taste victory.
However the Bison, fueled by a passing game that was non existent all game, found a way to score with less than 20 seconds left on a pass from Rian Reeves to pull off the comeback victory 26-21 Thursday night at Welcome Stadium.

The Bison had 2 opportunities to try to move ahead, the first one with 2 min remaining.
They failed on the 4th and 15, and Thurgood seemingly had the game in hand. However a quick 3 and out and the Bison were back in position.

Reeves, a rising  junior QB, completed a pass up the middle for a long gain, ran for 20 more on the next play, which setup the game winner.

The Bison now move to 1-4 on the season, while Thurgood falls to 0-5.
More importantly for Coach White and the Bison, it keeps their playoff hopes alive.

Football U Top 5 (Plus 1) Games of the Night
Heres the FootballU top 5 Games of Week 5 in the Miami Valley this weekend

(1) Carroll  @  #1 Chaminade
Ken Carroll upset Chaninade on the Eagles home turf?  Chaminade has been playing lights out this season, but Carroll has also had a banner year after a bad season last year.

(2) Wayne  @  Northmont
Can the Wayne train regroup after a tough loss to The Vikings last week? North mart will be ready, as they are prepped and have been waiting for this game all season. Can they rise to  The challenge?

(3) Miamisburg  @ Troy
Which team who surprisingly both are 4-0 will be able to come out on top in the GWOC battle of unbeatens?

(4) Lebanon  @ Springfield
Coach Maurice Douglass has the Cats playing at a superior level right now. Can Lebanon come in and spoil the fun? They just had 2nd player sign with Kentucky, one being OL-DL Isaiah  Gibson.

(5) Meadowdale  vs Ponitz
Can Meadowdale continue it's possible playoff push with a big win tonight against rival Ponitz? Or will the Panthers garner their first victory tonight?

 Other Key games:

Piqua @ Trotwood
Will the Indians put up much of a fight against the D-3 Champs who seem to be finding their niche?

Cin Woodward  @  Dunbar
Can former Local coach and player Kali Jones lead Woodward to a road win over the Wolverines?
Dunbar just got their first win, and will be hyped to get another.
However coach Jones has Woodward playing solid ball of late.
Jones, a former Colonel White Cougar, coached at Dayton Christian and Wayne previously before nabbing job at Woodward.
