They Got Next: 5 Basketball Coaches Who Look Like They Ready for A Head Coaching Job

  They Got Next:

5 Coaches Who Look Like They Ready for A Head Coaching Job

While there are many coaches who are ready to be a head coach, here are a few who have moved up the ladder and could be running a program sooner than later.

Here is our 5 Coaches To Watch Segment:

 (1) Troy Lewis-  Centerville Assistant

Lewis, a Indiana native, was a assistant for a decade or so at Springboro before leaving to go to Centerville. Ironically the Elks would win their first ever OHSAA Boys State Basketball Title with Lewis as a lead assistant in his 1st season.

And there’s no doubt that Lewis had a hand in the offense, which Lewis was one of the great guards in Big Ten History as he starred with Purdue in the 90s amassing one of the highest scoring careers in team and league history. If you noticed, the Elks shot a blistering rate from 3 en route to their championship.

 (2) Quinton Alstork – Vacant

Alstork has been close to grabbing a few jobs, as he was a finalist for the Northmont job, among others.

Alstork was on the sidelines just 2 years ago with the Beavercreek Beavers as he helped rebuild that program under Steve Pittman and his regime.

Alstork has also been under Darnell Hoskins at Thurgood, (During the Cougars State Run) and Dwayne Chastain, Meadowdale current Head Coach and credits Chastain with his first head coaching job, which he won the title as freshman and JV coach as well.

Alstork has won everywhere at every level he has coached at, and has had a major impact wherever he has went. He feels ready for a opportunity.

 (3) Donnovan Brown - Vacant

Brown, who was a 3-Sport star in HS, has said he is ready to get back into the fold. Brown had been coaching with Dunbar HS a few years ago, has recently said he would like to get back into coaching.

He has a wealth of knowledge, was a good coach in his stint, and should be on a sideline soon.

(4) Doug Spears – Stivers Assistant Coach

Spears, who was a assistant on the City League Champion Stivers Tigers girls team, has spent his time winning Championships on the football and basketball side.

He won 6 consecutive City League Championships with the Belmont Bison under Earl White, but he has also been a mainstay with the Tigers rise back to a elite level on the girls hoops side.

Spears was a 3-sport Star at Northridge and has been a key cog and mainstay in the Meadowdale Pee Wee Lions football program, the one that produced recently drafted Cincinnati Bengal Jackson Carman.

 (5) Ron Brooks – Dunbar Assistant

Brooks has burst onto the scene as he is on the fast rising staff of Tony Dixon, as they have made waves over the recent years with their handling of the Dayton Wolves program, and last year, with Dixon at Dunbar, they lost only 3 games all season en route to a City League Championship.

Brooks has the inate ability to get the next generation to listen, which is always the key.

Brandie Hoskins - Vacant

While Hoskins has  been linked to various jobs, including the Dunbar girls job, she has made it clear that she does not want to coach High School hoops. While she would thrive in high school, look for Hoskins to do some college coaching. Hoskins is linked heavily in the AAU circuit with GBA hoops. Hoskins is currently helping with GBA Nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio this weekend.

(Bonus) Isaiah Carson – Vacant

Carson, who was one of the elite coaches for a while, had some personal issues to deal with, and took a hiatus. However, there could be signs that he wants back in coaching. And, judging the fact that he took the Springfield Wildcats to 3 consecutive Regional Appearances speaks volumes for the former Wildcat star hooper to lead the likes of Danny Davis and Raheim Moss to levels the Cats hadn’t seen in years.

While there are still some jobs available out here for HS hoops, don't be suprised to see one or 2 of these names grab a coaching job or two.
