Wayne Train takes highest ranking ever into Regional Final tnite

After watching the Wayne Train steamroll every opponent they play this season, we watch their rankings go up, up, up in the process. Now the Warriors take the Regional Final stage as the #5 ranked team in the country according to USA Today.
DeWeaver headed to All-American Game

Tonight  they will battle Hilliard Davidson (12-1)  who won last week 17 - 10  over Upper Arlington. Hilliard has been dominant as well minus the 1 setback this season.

Wayne, who just recently had its prized QB Messiah DeWeaver win a spot on the All-America team, will look to continue its winning ways, en route to maybe the most successful season in the history of the School.

Initially the game was to be held in Columbus area, but it was switched to Welcome Stadium,  as it should, since everyone feels the Warriors are #1 or #2 in the state overall, depending on who u ask.

On a wet night, look for the games O and Defensive lines to have a major impact; Also expect to see a lot of the running game for Wayne.
While the WayneTrain passing game is unparalleled, the running game is underrated.

After seeing what the Warriors have done to everyone else, along with city field advantage?

Wayne Train gets back to state, 33- 24.

Wayne Train set to debut tnite vs Reynoldsburg (7pm)

After seeing how the GWOC fared last night, it's time for the main event as the Wayne Warriors look to battle Reynoldsburg (7-3) at Heidkamp Stadium tonight (7pm).

Will the Wayne Train unleash on Reynoldsburg?

The Warriors have been ranked in the USA Today and National Top 25 polls all season, ranking as high as 8th Nationally.

But tonight they will be tested by a sound  Reynoldsburg squad who has nothing to lose.

They know winning this game could result in legendary status.
And on top of that, they have been in playoff mode for weeks.

However,  the Wayne Train playing in front of its ruckus fans who will generate a 12th man like few places can.

Then there's the team.
With D-1 talent littered all over both sides of the ball, this squad looks focused like no other.

Coach Jay Minton has done a great job of keeping the team hungry, and I'm sure they will be ready tonight.
Could this be the start of the most celebrated Wayne run towards HS Football history?

We think so.

Expect a Wayne win 37-14.

Playoff hopes hang in the balance in Week 10; rivalries renewed

As we enter the last week of regular season one thing is for certain:
Playoffs start next week, but for most, it starts tonight, as we check out the 5 biggest games in Week 10:

(1) Centerville  (6-3)  @   Wayne  (9-0)
In one of the great rivalries in the Southwest Ohio region,  Centerville, who has seemingly found their rhythm behind the Chaminade julienne transfer Jacob Harrison. The senior has thrown for 2200 + and accounted for almost 3,000 yards in the season. Centerville has been almost lucky and good at the same time, as they have survived some fantastic finishes.
However, tonight could be a little bit too much.

The Wayne train has steamrolled every single opponent that they have stepped in front of.
Led by Trotwood transfer Messiah DeWeaver, the offense has been unstoppable. With everything on the line for Centerville and a playoff home game for Wayne, it's nothing new for the GWOC, which, quite frankly, looks like one of the top 3 HS Football Leagues in Ohio.
In the last 15 years three teams have dominated the league and two are playing  (the other is Trotwood).

With that being said, we pick the Wayne Train to win and end the Elks late season run 40-20.

(2) Dunbar (4-5)   vs   Belmont   (7-1)
With Dunbar losing to top seed Taft last week in a thrilling game, the Wolverines will now have to play the spoiler role as Belmont will attempt to not only win the conference outright, but get a playoff berth, something that hasn't happened in decades. Dunbar has its opportunity slip away, and maybe were a year away from winning the city. Belmont, led by Coach Earl White and star player Davion Lankford, have provided a swagger, discipline, and a camaraderie in their organization that seems to be fueling the entire Bison nation.
Dunbar has the better talent, but can they make the key plays to win the game?
Bison win and get to the playoffs 24-22.

(3) Trotwood  (6-3)  @  Vandalia Butler
Trotwood is guaranteed a playoff spot win or lose tonight and could secure a playoff home game if they can defeat the Aviators in Vandalia. Vandalia needs to win this game and more than likely Hope that a couple things go there way to get to the playoffs. Nevertheless it's been a very good season for Vandalia Butler, and this game will be tight all the way down to the end.
Were picking the Rams in a close one 30-28.

 (4) Miamisburg (8-1)  @  West Carrollton  (2-7)
Miamisburg is in a good position as they're hoping for a win and a little bit of help to get to the playoffs. barring any let downs, they should be able to get a win over the Pirates. West Carrolton has been up and down this season but this game is a rivalry so expect the Pirates to play with more energy and probably to an even keel in the first half. Miamisburg should win this one 35-20.

(5) Shroeder  @  Thurgood   (4-5)
Although  Thurgood didn't win the City League title for a 7th straight season they have started to finish strong with their young talent and looks like they could be a force for next year. Can they get the job done tonight at welcome Stadium and even their record for the season?
We're pcmic.

Top 5 games of Week 6; The Field vs The Wayne Train, Dunbar Meadowdale

(1) Wayne (5-0) -  Springfield (2-3)
In what will be a war to say the least this game has more storylines then the hit TV show Empire.

 How do u say?

Let's just start with Coach Maurice Douglass rejuvenating the Springfield program and getting it to a point where this game will have talent all over the field. And coming off a 51 point explosion last week. They know if they win this game?
Oh boy.
Then you have all- state star QB Messiah DeWeaver, the heralded quarterback for Wayne, who used to play for Douglas at Trotwood.        DeWeaver left Trotwood and now plays for Wayne and there has been reports of a little bit of trash talk come away of Springfield.

Will this be "Bulletin Board Material" for the WayneTrain?

Maybe they dont like him? Or the swag that DeWeaver and his juggernaut program displays?
Maybe they're sick and tired of losing to Wayne?

Now the #WayneTrain has been hyped up even more according to reports...

Regardless of the reason,  this has become the premeire rivalry game in the Miami Valley and in the GWOC,  and tonight will be no exception. Look the Wayne train to win, but it'll be in a close game (24-18)
This could shape up to be the game of the year in the Miami Valley & one that you definitely don't want to miss.

(2) Dunbar @ Meadowdale -

While Meadowdale (2-3) has been inconsistent a little bit recently they did shut out their last
opponent. Dunbar (2-3) lost a great opportunity last week to get a road win in a 7-6 defeat in Cincinnati. Dunbar had multiple possesions in the red zone but couldn't finish the deal. Whoever can win this game will have a little bit of momentum in trying to get to the playoffs. Its still within reach for both teams but as the season wanes time is running out. look for A Dunbar win 25 -17.

(3) Trotwood (4-1)  @  Sidney (2-3)

Can  Trotwood, led by the sophomore sensation at running back, go up to Sidney and get a much needed W to keep their playoff hopes intact?
The Rams had a good bounce back game after their first heartbreaking loss. Sidney's been up and down this season, but it would mean much more to the Yellow Jackets to ruin Trotwood season. Nevertheless, Trotwood get it done 30-17.

(4) Northmont @ Beavercreek
Can the Creek get another big win and keep their playoff hopes alive against a tough Thunderbolt team?
We pick the Creek 24-20.

(5) Xenia (2-3) @  West Carrollton (2-3)
yes this game is actually in the top five Y? because West Carrolton has a chance to win two games in a row in 3 games in a season and which the Pirates had lost 20+ games in a row coming into the season. So if West Carrollton can beat a senior team who just defeated Troy, it could show that the Pirates are on the way up in a very tough GWOC.

We got West Carrollton winning in a tight one 17-16.

Last week Record - 4-1

Big Games on tap for Week 5;

As we hit mid-season, its that time of the year when the best of the best start to separate themselves from the pack. That brings us to our top 5 games in week 5 of HS Football in the Miami Valley.

(1) Wayne (4-0)  @  Miamisburg  (4-0)
With the Wayne Train rolling at a blistering championship pace, can the upstart 'Burg pull off the major upset in Miamisburg in the GWOC Game of the Week?   Miamisburg was down 12-0 to Springfield last week but won a battle 13-12.
Wayne had homecoming and trampled Troy 49-7.

L'Christian "Blue" Smith & Messiah DeWeaver after a TD
The Vikings look tough.
The Warriors look state tough.
We got Wayne winning 33-20.

(2) Lebanon (2-2)  @ Trotwood  (3-1)
Lebanon (2-2)  will look to go into a hostile Trotwood environment, after the Rams lost a very tough game in Centerville. Lebanon is a very good team in its own right, and will be looking for the upset.  if Trotwood can win this game, they could be on their way to another banner year.
We're taking the Rams 30-12.

(3) Belmont (3-1) @ Cin. Woodward  (1-2)
Can Belmont seize the moment and defeat a game Woodward opponent in the Nati? A win and the Bison will sit alone in first place in the CMAC  National Division.
We think the Bison will win in a close one 22-20.

(4) Vandalia Butler (3-1)  @  Springfield (1-3)
In a game that has major implications,  can Springfield turn it around against a tough Butler squad? The Wildcats need a win in the worst way, as the season could be slipping away. A Vandalia win and they could be headed towards a playoff berth.
We got Springfield winning big 27-14.

(5) Dunbar (2-2)  @  Schroeder (2-2)
With the CMAC American division lead on the line, can the Wolverines win their second straight in the Nati? The defense will have to  be up to task as the winner will be at least tied for top spot. If Dunbar can win the trenches, this could be a another breakout game.
Wolverines win wild one 34-32.

Wayne starts fast, stops Moeller late to win 24-22 on ESPN

At the beginning of the Wayne - Moeller game it looked as if the #WayneTrain would steamroll another opponent, only this time it would be a team they beat in the playoffs last season - just this time on ESPN3.

After a nearly flawless first half which seen Wayne's QB Messiah DeWeaver be nearly perfect, Sophmore sensation WR Christian " L'Blu" Smith have his coming out party and Wayne clicking on all cylinders, it looked like it would be a rout.

17-0 Wayne in the second quarter.
Not so fast WayneTrain.

Moeller regrouped late in the first half with a long bomb to Butz to cut it to 17-6. (Missed extra point, which would cost them).

Who would Wayne turn to?
Insert two way star Daryl McClesky.

McClesky took a pass to the flat on 3rd and 22 and turned it into a 91-yard TD with savvy running, a couple nice jukes and a burst that Moeller couldn't match.
24-6 @ half. Game over right?
Wrong.

Moeller turned up the defense, and shut downs Wayne's high powered offense. They also scored twice to cut lead to 24-16 late in the third. After Wayne stalled a couple more times, Moeller pushed down the field and scored a huge 4th down TD by Hunter Hughes to pull it to 24-22 with less than a minute left in the 4th.
Beacause Moeller missed the extra point after their first score they would have to go for two, which was stopped by Wayne to the relief of coach Jay Minton and his squad.

Moeller a recovered onside kick (after a penalty forced a re-kick) but wasn't able to get into field goal range and Wayne sacked the QB to end the rally.

Ballgame.

There could be a chance these two powers meet again, in the playoffs, but as of right now?

The Warriors have knocked off the perennial Cincy power in the last two big games.

Not too late to jump on that #WayneTrain before it gets to state.
All aboard.

Top 5 games of Week 2 in the Miami Valley on Labor Day weekend

Now that high school football has kicked off, lets take a look at the DHSS Top 5 key games in Southwest Ohio on this Labor Day weekend:

(5) Thurgood @ Trotwood (Fri 7pm)

Thurgood (0-1), last years City League champs, despite losing last week, still has a plethora of good players on the team, but will be tested severely tested tonight facing a young but hungry Rams team itself. Trotwood won a last week, and with another win, could ease the pressure off the young QB who replaced Michigan St bound Messiah DeWeaver (who is back at Wayne)

(4) Beavercreek @ Carroll (7pm)

The Creek ran to a huge W last week behind star RB Bradshaws 3TDs and huge running stats. Carroll defeated Meadowale. Both teams look to go 2-0 early In the season.

(3) Cin Withrow @ Alter (Fri 7pm)

After Withrow (1-0) handled Dunbar last week, they will take on the State runner ups this week. Alter (1-0) will look to continue on a great W over a hyped Fairmont team. Withrow has a couple game breaker type players, but can they stand up to the Knights well balanced squad?

(2) Dunbar vs Ponitz (Fri 7pm)

In a early season game with possible Title and playoff implications, Dunbar (0-1) will look to get on track tonight after numerous missed opportunities in the last game vs Withow. Ponitz, (1-0) spearheaded by former C-J coach Jim Place and a great staff, were the only team in Dayton City League to get a W, (defeated Cin Clark).
Dunbar looked as the early season favorite for a league title, but if the Panthers can pull off the upset tonight?
Watch out for Ponitz.

(1) Wayne @ Cin Moeller (Sun 4pm)

In a game that will be featured on ESPN3, the bragging rights for Southwest Ohio is on the line. Wayne was a quarter away from a state title last season, and defeated Moeller in the state semifinals 29-22 last season. The #WayneTrain blanked one of the top teams in Canada in its opening game and looks as focused as ever.
Moeller is a championship contender as well, and has won many games in this type of atmosphere. With a tough D, rock solid Offense and a All-American candidate at TE. Not to mention the fact that the Warriors ended their dreams last year.
The Moeller crowd will be insane today in Cincy.
However, when you watch the WayneTrain, you almost are looking at a mid major D-1 college team in which their three top offensive players (Messiah DeWeaver, Matthew Wilcox Jr and ChristianLBlu Smith) will be playing on your TV screens on Saturdays for a major program very soon.
And possibly Sundays as well.
I look for a WayneTrain showcase and a convincing W on Sunday.

Just in case those NFL coaches and scouts want to see the future.
