Here's the Recap / Highlights on Week 5 of Football in the Miami Valley:
Wayne halts Northmont winning streak; McKee,Victoria shine
Wayne knew they couldn't come out half stepping against the undefeated Northmont Thunderbolts.
The Bolts had been waiting on the game all season.
Well be careful what you ask for, as the Warriors (3-2) connected through the air and bombed out the Thunderbolts 49-20 to end the Bolts winning streak and keep themselves squarely in the OHSAA Playoff Picture once again.
Kevin McKee was on point after a tough outing last week, as he threw for 5 TD's, with 3 of those going to All-State Wideout Steven Victoria, who also had 8 catches for 180+ on the night.
After a Danny Lewis TD to get it to 28-20, Wayne would score 21 unanswered for the runaway win.
Northmont falls to 4-1.
C-J routs Carroll in showdown as Henry goes for 6 TDs
Chaminade knew Carroll was ready for the big showdown after having a down season last year. With so much buzz around the Chaminade campus, there was no doubt Carroll would be hyped up.
However, the Eagles ran over, around, and through the Patriots D to the tune of 61-30 on Friday Night.
While star QB Ryan Minor will have to sit down for the remainder of the season, the running game was on point with over 400 yards rushing as the #1 team in the D-3 polls (OHSAA) dominated early and often.
Marquis Henry led the attack with 245 yards from only 15 carries, and destroyed the defense with 6 TD's on the night. Quincy Johson ran for 126 and 2 more TD's in the rout.
It was a 14 all in the first quarter before C-J ran off 25 consecutive points to take control of the game.
C-J moves to 5-0 while Carroll falls to 4-1 on the season.
Miamisburg shuts down Troy
In a battle of unbeatens Miamisburg was able to shut down the big plays from Troy, and with it come out with a resounding 31-14 victory at Troy.
Miamisburg shut out Troy in the 1st half as rising QB Tate Vongsy connected to Zion Lewis for a TD and ran for another, giving the Burg the room they needed to secure the W.
Shane Shoop scored for Troy, and also forced a fumble with 8 tackles, but it wasn't enough for the Trojans to grab a win.
Miamisburg rolls to 5-0, while Troy falls to 4-1.
Springfield throttles Lebanon, sets School Record
The Wildcats have shown they will not let any opponents off the hook, as they shut down Lebanon en route to another big win at Springfield HS.
The win improves the record to 5-0, the first ever at the new school.
Coach Maurice Douglass is extremely proud of the squad but knows there is plenty of work to do.
Larry Stephens Jr had a big TD grab, and TaeSean Smoot ran for another as the Cats ran away from Lebanon and now should have serious consideration for a State Ranking.

Rams continues upward trend with D, Latimer leading the way
Trotwood continues to find their way back up the charts with a convincing win 48-13 over Piqua, as a new RB pushed his name onto the scene, and the defense stifled Piqua in winning its 3rd straight game.
Devontae Latimer, cousin of New York Giant WR Cody Latimer, went wild with a 150 yard, 3-TD effort that was plenty for the State Champs.
Ravae Garrett grabbed his 2nd pick 6 INT in as many weeks, and the Rams now sit feeling pretty good with West Carrollton up next.
Piqua would score first, before Trotwood would unleash a 42 point blitz that the Indians couldn't recover from
Trotwood moves to 3-2 on the season while Piqua falls to 2-3.
Alter wins 4th straight
Alter got its 4th straight win of the season and now looks to be headed into playoff contention again.
Led by the running game, can the Knights make it 5 straight after this week?
Lions stop Ponitz as Flucas, Carson shine; Can Meadowdale talk playoffs?
Meadowdale coach Robert Brown mentality was to get the Lions to "Buy In" to what he was trying to establish in his 1st year as head coach;
If things keep going, it wont take much for the entire city and alumni to do that as well, as Meadowdale knocked off Ponitz (0-5) at Welcome Stadium on Friday Night.
After a Antonio Higgins TD run for Ponitz, Meadowdale would score 14 of the last 20 points to seal the deal, as the connection of QB Elijah Carson to WR-DB Bryson Flucas was too much to overcome for the Panthers.
They connected twice late, then Flucas finished the deal with a late INT to halt the Panthers final hopes of the upset win.
With the win Meadowdale now moves to 3-2 and has a real opportunity to make the playoffs. With the duo of Carson and Flucas leading a solid team, the vibe around the Lions facility is that there is real hope this season.
Will the Lions continue the surprisingly good run?
Dunbar wins 2nd straight as Defense comes up big
While new Coach Ryan Freed understands that change wouldn't be easy, he has managed to get the Wolverines to start playing solid ball, and a 22-20 intense victory over Cincinnati Woodward showed that Dunbar still could win the City League despite losing its star player to injury (OL- Johnathan Allen.
With a Sophomore star in the making with QB Greg Packnett Jr, and a hard working defense, the Wolverines were able to outlast a Woodward team (2-3) that is coached by a local product in Kali Jones, a former Colonel White Cougar.
Dunbar held a 22-14 lead midway through 4th quarter when Woodward would score a on a long pass, but the 2-point conversion was stopped. Woodward would have 2 more chances to score, but a turnover, stout defense, and time would seal the fate as the Wolverines now move to 2-3.
The win sets up a juicy matchup against rival Belmont, which has won the City League the last 2 years. With both teams holding on to slim playoff hopes, this one will be a classic.
