 Lawrent Rice Talks After Big Commitment to Murray State on S.E.Live365 (Fox 45 Dayton)

Lawrent Rice, one of the best High school hoopers in Ohio, has committed to Murray State and delivered a powerful message to the basketball community in his interview with S.E.Live365.

  


"I'm very happy with my decision to play at Murray State." a relaxed and relieved Lawrent Rice said, after deciding to follow in the footsteps of another elite PG who was underrated before lighting up the college ciruit. 

Who would that be?

Ja Morant, Star guard for the Memphis Grizzlies. 

Did Morant have any influence on Rice decision, after a bevy of top schools jumped in the Law Pool for his services at the collegiate level?

Week 8 Fball Recap; Xenia Stays Undefeated; Springfield Stops Elks; Trotwood Stops Dunbar; Tipp Holds Off Piqua; Full Recap

 Here's the Week 8 Recap / Headlines of HS Football in the Miami Valley

Greater Western Ohio Conference

Springfield Shuts Down Centerville, Stays in 1st Place


The Springfield Wildcats took their explosive offense on the road and put on a show at #4 ranked Centerville in a big win 38-10. Junior RB Jayvin Norman ran all over the Elks defense for 2 TD's in the first quarter and set the tone. He finished with 114 yards on 8 rushes.

 Bryce Schondelmyer had another big game, throwing for 345 yards and a TD, with that going to star WR Anthony Brown (6 catches, 162 yds, TD).  The Elks were without their starting QB, and it showed. Springfield moves to 6-1 while Centerville falls to 6-2. 

Wayne Falls to Fairmont Late as Payne, Baker Shine

         DB-RB Karmron Payne Leads Fairmont

In a well played game, the Fairmont Firebirds knocked off the Wayne Warriors 26-21 as the Firebirds would score on a Drew Baker run late in the 4th quarter. 

Baker would lead the attack with 105 yards on 28 carries, while 2-way stud DB-RB-KR Karmron Payne would rush for 76 yards and a TD, force a fumble and lead the Firebirds in total tackles in the win. 

Tyrell Lewis would throw for 220 in the loss, with a TD pass to Teann Hunter (99 yards, 6 catches). 

Springboro Bounces Back, Wins Big Over Northmont


The Springboro Cats bounced back with a 41-17 win over the Northmont Bolts with a team effort. Evan Ruzzo had a huge game, passing for 157 yards and 2 TD's and rushing for another 128 and a TD, while Willizhuan Yates ran for 193 yards and 2 TD's for the Boro.

 Dalin Wilkins caught 9 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs on the night in the losing effort. Springboro moves to 6-2 on the season, while Northmont falls to 3-5.

Miamisburg Wins Shootout Against Beavercreek 49-26 as McGohan Goes Wild


Cincinnati commit Jackson McGohan showed why he will be a force in college, as he carved up the Beavercreek defense for 4 TD's in a big win over Beavercreek. 

McGohan would catch 6 passes for 114 yards, and would get the scoring going in the 1st quarter with 2 TD's to get Miamsburg rolling. The Vikings had 2 guys pass for 3 TD's in a big win. Conner Smith caught 8 passes for 111 yards in the win.


Miami Valley League

Xenia Shuts Down Stebbins, Rolls to 8-0 Behind Wright "Career Night"  


The Xenia Buccaneers, one of the elite teams in the state, continued to roll up the numbers in a big win against Stebbins. Trammell Wright and the defense forced 6 turnovers and Trei'Shaun Sanders ran for 4 more TD's in the big win. 

Wright would set the record for most INT's and for most TD pass catches. Wright had 3 INTs in the big win, and star DL Jamell Smith would force a fumble, have 1.5 sacks and lead the team in tackles in the 42-7 win. 

Tippecanoe Stops Piqua in Game of the Week


Tipp would save its best effort for the final quarter, in which they erased a 7-point deficit to win 23-20 over the Piqua Indians and keep their hopes alive for a share of the MVL championship. Down 20-13, Liam Poronsky directed two scoring drives in the quarter, the last coming on a Xavier Jones TD run to take the lead for good and send the Red Devils to a win.

 


DB-WR-KR  Dre'Sean Roberts led Piqua with a INT and 8 recepions for 74 yards, while RB Ky Warner scored a rushing TD as well. LB Sam Schmiesing led Piqua with 16 total tackles. Tipp moves to 7-1 while Piqua falls to 6-2. 

Troy Rolls Late, Upends West Carrollton

Troy used a 2nd half flurry to roll past the West Carrollton Pirates 55-6 as Nick Kaweki 76-yard TD return set off the Trojans team who would force 5 turnovers, 2 for TD's in a big 2nd half win. 

RB Jahari Ward would run for 319 yards and 4 TD's in a huge game for the RB. With the win Troy moves to 5-3 on the season. 

Dayton Public Schools 

Meadowdale Stops Belmont Behind Defense, Fleming, Peebles


The Meadowdale Lions were able to stop the running and passing game of the Bison until it was too late and rode RB-DB Davion Fleming to a second win in City League play with a 20-7 win at Welcome Stadium.

 WR-DB Robert Peebles would score on a TD pass, Fleming scored twice and the defense was lights out as the Lions improve to 2-1 in the city league, while Belmont falls to 1-2. Tay Arnold would score the lone TD for the Bison in the loss.

Trotwood Stops Dunbar in a Shootout 

        QB Tim Carpenter Leads Rams to Victory 

Dunbar jumped out to a 12-0 lead and it looked as if the Wolverines were ready to upset the Rams.

 Then Trotwood scored 32 straight points to seize control of the game and roll to a 52-32 win over the Wolverines as QB Tim Carpenter threw for 2 TD's and ran for another in the big win. 

Malachi Johnson 50-yard fumble recovery changed the game and gave the Rams the boost they needed to win. 

With the win Trotwood now sits at 4-4 with 2 weeks left in the season. 


GREATER CATHOLIC LEAGUE

Chaminade Falls to Badin in Close Game


The Chaminade Julienne Eagles gave Badin a tough fight, but it wasn't enough as the top team in the area and the GCL was able to stop the Eagles as Carter Russo ran for 2 TD's to run their record to 8-0 and stay atop the OHSAA State poll.

 Josiah Payne ran for 135 yards on 20 carries to lead the Eagles, who now fall to 4-4 on the season.

Alter Falls to Fenwick


The Alter Knights Fell to the Fenwick football team 10-0 as the Fenwick team used its stout rushing game and top-notch defense to shut down the Knights.

 Fenwick would run for almost 300 yards in the defensive battle of a game. Alter falls to 4-4 on the season.
