Wayne Comes Out Firing Against Dunbar in Game of The Week
Wayne came into Welcome Stadium against Dunbar in the Dayton Weekly Game of the Week and showed why they should be a team to make noise this season, as they powered past the Wolverines on the season Opening Friday night 41-0.
Led by a balanced offensive attack, spearheaded by RB Jordan Ward, TE Elijah Brown, and Slot WR R.J Mukes Jr, the Wayne Train was too much for the Wolverines to overcome.
Smoot, Defense Leads Cats Back To Win Late over St Ignatius
The Springfield Wildcats took on a “Ready For War" squad in St Ignatius (Cleveland). While it looked for a while like the Cats might fall in the season opener, the defense stepped up, and the offense delivered late as Player of the Year & All-American Candidate Tae’Sean Smoot did what he has done over the course of his incredible career; Win.
While it wasn’t pretty, Smoot and the Cats showed that even on a average night, they are still capable of being an elite program such as Ignatius. Springfield scored twice in the 4th quarter to turn a tough loss into a emotional win.
Fairmont Stops Alter on Thursday Night Lights
The Fairmont Firebirds seems to have figured out how to finally beat the Alter Knights, after a big time win on Opening night in front of a packed house. The Firebirds took the home crowd, used a flawless game plan, and capitalized on some crucial Alter mistakes to seal the deal and upset the OHSAA State Semifinalists 16-7.
Alter scored on its 1st drive, and never reached the red zone until the middle of the 4th quarter. They then would fumble inside the 10-yard line, which would end the Knights comeback hopes. Malek Hillon led the Firebird on offense with great decision making and a couple of clutch throws.
Meadowdale Gets Big Road Win Under New Regime
Meadowdale went to Cincinnati and pulled out a huge road win over Cincinnati College Hill, as the Lions leaned on their young guns to help them get a huge road victory.
While the team is young, it was those young guns who showed moxie and grit to pull out a close victory.
The team celebrated after the win, as the Earl White regime in Meadowdale starts out per the usual: with a win.
There is a real sense of a program changing right before our eyes. We could be watching the beginning of something special.
Miamisburg Outlasts West Carrollton in Rivalry Game
This was a game of 2 halves as the Vikings and Pirates played 1st half to a tilt.
In the 2nd half the Vikings took over on the line, as the Pirates wore down, and Miamisburg powered to a 31-7 win in front of a great crowd in Miamisburg.
Centerville Rides Dymamic Duo To Win
The Centerville Elks used their dynamic duo of Chase Harrison and top receiver Cam Smith to get a big victory in week 1. It was a question on how good the Elks would be, and we will still be watching, but Harrison showed he will be a real force this season.
Piqua Starts Strong, Rolls Past City League Champs
The Piqua Indians took down the Belmont Bison at home on Friday night. The Indians had a deep run in the OHSAA Tournament last season, and could be headed for another deep run again. RB Jasiah Medley ran for 94 yards and scored 4 times for the Indians as they ran for 7 TD's overall.
Junior QB Brady Ouhl was 6-7 with a TD, the defense racked up 3 Forced Fumbles and a INT, and Belmont, in a new regime under Jordan Pascal, struggled in game 1. Expect a hungry and prideful Bison squad who is coming off their 6th consecutive City League Championship in week 2.
C-J Unleashes Explosive Offense to Season Opening Win
Chaminade Julienne rode its 2 studs in WR Kenyon Owens and QB Luke Chandler to a big win at home vs Troy at home on Friday night. Coach Colvin was excited about his team coming into the season, and we can see why.
Explosive on offense, putting up 38 in the first game in a 38-20 win over a playoff team last year in Troy.
Trotwood Falls In Home Opener To Winton Woods
The Trotwood Rams took a tough loss in week 1 to Winton Woods. While the defense played well, the offense wasn’t as sharp as the Rams failed to score en route to a 16-0 loss. However, with some young guns in key positions, you might not see the best of the Rams until mid-season.
Xenia Gets 1st Win For Coach Hardin
The Xenia Bucs rode the energy and coaching staff to a big week 1 win against Beavercreek. Coach Hardin said “It was Dream" to win as a head coach for the Bucs. Congrats to Maurice Hardin and his Bucs squad.
