After all the scrutiny, offseason camps, moves, new coaches , and players on the rise, it is finally the 1st Week of OHSAA football.
Tonight is when the Championship Dreams come to life - or die.
Here's tonight's games as we hit Week 1 of the Regular Season:
Troy @ Belmont (Welcome Stadium)
👀🔥📈📰
The Trojans of Troy had a very good season last year, riding a Star RB and a good defense all the way to the playoffs.
Belmont also made it to the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row, only to be stopped by Piqua in the playoffs.
So now, Coach Earl White has retooled, and feels like this team has a real shot to make a run in the playoffs, if they can survive week by week.
We got the Bison winning a close one 26- 22.
Alter vs Fairmont
🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽📰
In one of the bigger rivalry games, that opens up every season, something has changed in the last couple years;
The Firebirds are on a winning streak.
Fairmont won the last two years, now making this first game much more meaningful. Before that, Alter had won for a decade strong and some.
Fairmont will be hard pressed to stop the Knights tonight, as the Running Game could be a major factor for Alter.
Alter wins 32- 24
Xenia @ Beavercreek
👀🏈
The Bucs had a very good season last year, led by Coach Trace Smitherman. They went 6-4 & almost snuck into the playoffs.
Beavercreek had a ok season last year, and is looking to get back to prominence.
We got X-Town winning tonight
28-27

Top 10 Teams to Wach (PreSeason)
After Week 2 of the Pre-Season, here are the
Dayton HS Sports Top 10 Teams to Watch as we near the Season Opener for OHSAA Football:
(1) Trotwood
The Rams look to regroup after disaster hits area;
Will they still be as good as advertised?
After losing some of the city in the Tornado disaster, the entire state will be in tune to see what happens with the Ram Nation this season.
But dont fret Ram Nation.
With A Coaching Staff that is 2nd to none in the State, led by Jeff Graham, and talent to match, led by All-Ohio DBs Carl Blanton and Sammie Anderson, the Rams are set for another great season.
(2) Chaminade-Julienne
Eagles have the top QB in Southwest Ohio, and possibly all of state. They have returning talent on both sides of the ball, and the confidence that they could have something special this once they get their star QB back on the field.
Is it "State or Bust" for the Eagles?
They boast one of the top head coaches in the area in Marcus Colvin.
Should be ranked in Top 5 of PreSeason OHSAA State Polls.
(3) Wayne
Warriors have new leadership, coach in Roosevelt Mukes.
How will Wayne Train respond?
With legendary coach Jay Minton stepping down amid controversy, the Wayne Train will focus on a new regime with some young studs in waiting.
Mukes is definitely ready for the challenge, and signs point to a good season for the Warriors.
(4) Belmont
Bison look to 3-peat in the City League, but more importantly, want to make a deep run in the OHSAA playoffs. With Rian Reeves leading the charge, how far can the Bison go? With size and talent all over the field? Could be a huge season for the Bison.
Heard they are working extremely hard, which is the Earl White motto.
Going for 4th Title in 5 years.
(5) Springfield
How will Coach Moe Douglas Cats look after reaching Regionals but losing 3 star D-1 players (Douglas, Gibson, Brown)?
QB Te'Sean Smoot could be breakout player this season as he has had a incredible summer, garnering up offers from powerhouses such as Notre Dame and others.
He should be ready for the bright lights.
Cats already have 3 kids committed to college scholarships and the season hasn't even started yet.
(6) Dunbar
With Rising Star QB Greg Packnett Jr at the helm, could the Wolverines be headed back to the playoffs? Reports are that the Wolverines could contend for a playoff spot this season.
Note: Some of the old coaches from Darran Powell staff has gotten their jobs back. Could that infuse some much needed juice for the football program?
(7) Alter
With a running duo that has few rivals in the entire state of Ohio, how will the Knights fare without their Star QB?
Adding New Coach Derrick Shepard should reap major benefits for Knights program. Lil Shep (Derrick Shepard Jr.) as he is affectionately known around the city, is already making a huge impact and should be on the starting line come midseason. One of the top Sophomore prospects in the Country.
(8) Northmont
How will the Bolts fare after a dream season of sorts? Winning a game in the 1st round, does the expectations grow?
With some experience still available but some mjaor talent lost, can they stay at the top of the league after a Conference shakeup?
(9) West Carrollton
With the Pirates moving to a new conference (Miami Valley League), having a new coach (Dion Black) and bringing back some solid talent with All-GWOC WR Austin Jones, they should be able to make some noise in their new conference.
(10) Vandalia Butler
Can Butler continue to stay as a upper echelon team in the new Miami Valley League? With a rising coach in John Puckett, can they take their young team and make it happen? Losing UC signee B.J. Johnson and a plethora of solid seniors could hurt Aviators this season.
3 more to Watch:
Xenia
What will GWOC Champs do this season in Coach Trace Smitherman 2nd season as coach?
Meadowdale
Can the expertise of Coach Brown and the Rams translate to success this season? Will Hill Jr is playing this year for the Lions.
Franklin
Can the Cats stay at the top of the SWBL standings?
With weapons such as Rising WR Dylan Dirks on the outside, could be another good year.

High School Football Kicks Off; Trotwood, West Carrollton host midnight events; Dayton Public Schools Football Recap;
As we hit August 1st, that only can mean one thing:
Football Season has started in the High School Ranks!
This week begins the journey for OHSAA Fall season, as Football, Volleyball, Soccer, and other sports get ready to kick off their seasons.
However there are some teams who will get the jump on the competition as perennial powerhouse Trotwood and upstart program in West Carrollton did midnight madness - football style.
The Rams, who just won the State Championship 2 seasons ago, will look to ride 2 of its star seniors (Sammy Anderson and Carl Blanton) back to prominence this season.
Trotwood will be in the new (now split up) GWOC for the final remaining season, then who knows?
Independent power, a union with Dayton Public or another league?
Regardless, look for the unified Rams to be back in the State Chase.
As for West Carrollton, they have a new coach in former Miamisburg and Trotwood Defensive Coordinator Dion Black.
Black was the Coordinator during the Rams Championship Run, and will look to install some energy, new schemes, and a new foundation for the Pirates, who have switched conferences (MVC) which goes into effect this school year.
With Rising Star WR Austin Jones leading the Pirates, it could be a solid year for the West Carrollton, as they look to replace the job done by Freshman RB Jordan Ward, who is now at Wayne.
Dayton Public Schools Recap (Last Season)
Last season Belmont dominated the City League once again as the Southwest Ohio Public League merger with Cincinnati schools was ceased.
Led by Rising Junior dual threat QB Rian Reeves, Belmont would go undefeated in the city, before losing in the 1st round of the OHSAA playoffs.
Since Earl White has taken over Belmont, the Bison have been at or near the top of the Standings every single year.
Dunbar ended up in 2nd place, led by Player of the Year Candidate and then Super Sophomore QB Greg Packnett Jr.
Now that some of the coaching staff who helped Dunbar reach prominence back on the sidelines?
Could be a interesting year for the Wolverines.
Can Coach Freed take the next step and get the Wolverines back in playoff contention?
Thurgood finished in 3rd place, led by Do it all Senior V'Sean Palmer and Power QB Ayoub Muhammad.
The Cougars have some talent returning and could be the sleeper team to win the city this year.
Meadowdale and Ponitz competed, but both look to be better this season.
Meadowdale was better than Ponitz last year, and if they would have more kids in the program, coach Brown probably would be much more competitive than they already are. His teams are always prepared.
Senior Bryson Flucas was the Do-It-All Player for the Lions
As far as Ponitz?
Its a wait and see approach for the 2nd year coach. Last season was tough, but there should be some improvement with some talent on deck.
